Vanessa & the Blossom

I've just recently finished this watercolour painting. It's inspired by a really good friend in Vancouver plus my last Spring in Canada.

Pink Lady Apple

I'm also working on this free motion machine embroidery on painted fabric above. I think she' s called 'Pink Lady Apple' (my most favourite of the apples:). I'm half way through and I've been trying to photograph her here on the station but I think I need to photograph her in an apple tree, her colours don't quite fit here.

Feral Girls: Fox

This is from a new series I'm working on: The Feral Girls series. They are wild girls with animals that are considered a feral pest in Australia. I'm working on a hand embroidery of a girl with a rabbit. This one above is a girl with a fox around her neck done in free motion machine embroidery. I've filled the piece with stuffing so it's kind of like a strange pillow. I'm rather pleased with this new drawing style, it's quite different from what I've been doing.

Shadows on Sand

I've been going on some great walks through the bush and over the red sand hills we have on the property accompanied by my little brothers and some of the dogs. I took these fun shadow photos a couple of days ago on one of the sandhills.

Bark, Bones & Sunset

And so I had a lovely birthday with my family and a really good friend who I share my birthday with. While at home on the station, I've been doing lots of walking and taking photos of all the wonderful textures and colours we have out here. I seem to be fascinated with the hollows of trees and old bones at the moment, I'm not sure how they will come out in the art yet but I'm sure they will.

A trip home

And so, for my birthday, I left Mt Barker (my favourite walking the dog spot shown above at Laratinga Wetlands) and zipped home to the family station with my dog Tiggy (as shown in the middle picture above) and my little black cat Hermione.

New Stitch Bangles

This is a new version of my Stitch Bangles that I've been playing around with - it's a hand stitched drawing on painted fabric with a pressed rose petal that's been laminated, and there is a layer of clear vinyl over the top of the fabric. I'm having some trouble figuring out what to call these; for ages they were wrist bands or wrist cuffs and now I'm trying out Stitch Bangles and hoping for inspiration for a new name....
