Koala Girl Cushion

I've been thinking for awhile about putting my drawings in stitch onto cushion covers and here is the first one. She's on plain calico fabric with applique fabic spots. The drawing has been done in free motion machine embroidery. I've aimed to keep it as simple as possible without the layers and layers of embroidery that I usually do. She's happy and joyful, caring for her little koala friend.

Feral Girl:Rabbit

This is a hand embroidered black outline on acrylic painted cotton and it's to go with the other Feral Fox Girl. And as you can see it's another long-eared bunny.

My Koala Heart

I finally finished this piece; it was an experiment that I started back in January. It's acrylic paint on primed canvas with hand embroidery because I wanted to see what it was like hand embroidering on painted canvas instead of the the painted un-primed cotton I usually worked on. I found out I prefer my cotton. Well, you have to try these things... I am rather pleased with the image and expressing the way we are all connected to the earth, the trees and animals.

Tiggy & Tara

Here is a watercolour I recently finished inspired by my dog Tiggy (her full name is Antigone). She's a Terrier cross I got 13 years ago as a puppy from a Dog Shelter in Hobart. At 13 she's still very bouncy and happy and likes to be with me always. She's my most favourite 'Person of Fur' (which is what a very dear friend of mine calls these much loved animals who are part of our families).

When Evie & Digsby Met

I've been drawing lots of long eared bunnies lately, they are rather fun.

Spring

Well it's Spring here in the Adelaide Hills and I'm definitely enjoying the sun and all the flowers that are appearing in my new garden. I've been lucky enough to rent a house with a really nice garden that as the season has progressed, has produced some lovely surprises in the form of flowers I didn't actually know were in this garden. There's been lilies, daffodils, snow-drops and now irises, so there's been lots of lovely colour inspiration for me. Especially as my studio looks out on the garden. I've just pruned the 10 rose bushes so there should be lots of beautiful roses for me soon as well. I've also been able to use this sun to dry clothes and fabrics on the Hills Hoist washing line as shown in the top photo. Spring is definitely beautiful here in the Hills. Happy Spring everyone, and Happy Fall to my friends in Canada.
